Monoprice Maker Pro Mk.1: Review the Specs

Review the Specs and Features

To start, the Monoprice Maker Pro Mk.1 is a rebadged Wanhao Duplicator D9. But even if the specs of both 3D printers are identical, some details could be different.

The Monoprice Maker Pro Mk.1 comes almost ready to print, which means there are only a few preassembled parts which you have to put together.

Like many budget 3D printers, the Monoprice Maker Pro Mk.1 has an open frame which means it lacks an enclosure. An enclosure would be the better to control the print bed temperature but this feature is only common for expensive professional 3D printers. The frame and print bed of the machine are made of aluminum.

You can print objects up to 300 x 300 x 400mm (a print volume of 36 liters) on the Monoprice Maker Pro Mk.1. This build volume puts it in the same league as the popular Creality CR-10 and similar large machines.

The manufacturer claims a print speed of 70 mm/s. This is below average but in contrast to other 3D printer spec sheets probably more realistic.

You can use 175mm filament with the Monoprice Maker Pro Mk.1. This is extruded through the provided 0.4mm brass nozzle. This 3D printer is compatible with third party filaments. This means you have a lot of options for materials.

The spec sheet mentions a layer thickness between 100 and 400 microns, which is nothing special and mainly determined by the nozzle size. It also has a positional accuracy of 120 microns in the X and Y axis and 0.004 microns in the Z axis, which is also common with budget 3D printers.

The maximum nozzle temperature of 255 degrees Celsius makes it suitable for a wide variety of materials, including ABS, PLA, and PETG.

Additionally, the Monoprice Maker Pro Mk.10 provides some non-standard features which are remarkable. It automatically detects if the 3D printer runs out of filament and it can resume the print after the spool is changed. That’s helpful.

The printer features a touch screen which is the new normal as most budget 3D printers in the past just had LCD screens and knobs.

The Monoprice Maker Pro Mk.1 comes with printer settings for Cura and Repetier slicing software but likely works with other slicers as well.

It has an SD card slot and a USB connector which you can use to send your print jobs to the 3D printer.

Last but not least, some additional information: The Monoprice Maker Pro Mk.1 weighs 20kg. Unboxed it weighs 22kg and the package size is 60 x 50 x 35mm.

As soon as we get the Monoprice Maker Pro Mk.1 in our test lab we will update this article with our first impressions.
