Ever since the Creality CR-10 emerged as one of the most popular desktop 3D printers on the market, a variety of brands have replicated the printer’s style and design.

Known for offering a large build volume at an affordable price, there are now a wide range of CR-10 clones available for frugally-minded consumers. The latest to capture the attention of the 3D printing community is the Alfawise U10 3D printer.

At first glance, you might think this machine looks like a less vibrant version of the CR-10, but the Alfawise U10 has a number of unique perks and improved features that set it apart from the growing pack of clones.

Available on GearBest for under $500, the Alfawise U10 looks to be a real bargain for consumers shopping for a 3D printer with an enormous build volume without breaking the bank. And, with a number Asian retailers recently deciding to pull the Creality CR-1o off the shelves, the Alfawise U10 may soon take its place on the budget 3D printer throne.

Please note that this is not a full-fledged 3D printer review. Instead, we are presenting the reader with all of the available information we’ve gathered on this 3D printer. Stay tuned for a comprehensive review in the near future.

Alfawise U10 3D Printer: Review the Facts

Features

Image of Alfawise U10 3D Printer: Review the Facts: Features

Similar to the Creality CR-10, the Alfawise U10 3D printer is a colossal Cartesian-style 3D printer that utilizes a separate control box. The central feature of this 3D printer is its gigantic 400 x 400 x 500mm build volume.

This is even larger than the build volume of the CR-10 base model. And, although there are CR-10 upgrade kits that reach up to 500 x 500 x 500mm, those will end up costing you more money.

You can forget about using a lowly aluminum print bed, the Alfawise U10 is equipped with a 4mm thick glass bed. This heated print bed is stabilized with a pair of aluminum profiles with double-sided roller guide.

The Alfawise U10 comes semi-assembled in two main parts, and is easy to put together even for beginners. In fact, the entire assembly process only takes around five minutes.

If you want proof, you can watch popular YouTuber 3D Maker Noob assemble and 3D print with the Alfawise U10 below.

Using a Bowden type extruder instead of a direct extruder, there is less weight placed upon X-axis, which in turn enables higher printing speeds. The U10 is also equipped with a second Z-axis stepper with thread guide, adding more stability to its already sturdy aluminum frame.

Aside from the build volume, there are a few other features that put this 3D printer above the vanilla CR-10 model. To prevent your 3D printing projects from getting messed up from lack of filament, the U10 offers “Filament Run-Out Protection”. This feature uses a sensor to pause the printing process if you run out of material.

Additionally, the Alfawise U10 3D printer is also equipped with a resume printing function, which allows you to resume printing in case of power failure. As one of the highlighted features found in the highly coveted Orginal Prusa i3 MK3, it’s quite impressive that Alfawise has managed to include this into its own budget 3D printer.

Last but not least, another prominent feature of the Alfawise U10 is its incredibly low price point. At under $500, this larger-than-life machine offers an affordable path to obtaining a budget 3D printer with a gigantic build volume.
