Scared of losing those super-expensive wireless Apple AirPods? These 3D printed twisty earbud catchers are the solution.

Apple may have solved the issue of tangled headphone wires, but their latest AirPod headphone design comes with a fresh new problem.

The little earbuds can set you back $160, and without a wire to keep them attached to your phone, there’s no way to be sure you won’t lose them if they slip out of your ears.

But for anyone with pierced ears, there’s a potential remedy from designers at M3D, a company which specializes in micro 3D printers.

The twisty earbud catchers are little buckets to hang from your earlobes, ready to rescue the AirPods should they fall.

In a pinch, these 3D printed baskets will save the earbuds from tumbling onto the street when on the move, or into your guacamole when you’re not.

Modify your Own Twisty Earbud Catchers

The M3D Twisty Earbud Catcher is available to download for free from Thingiverse. This is the only way of getting your hands on the earrings (but as interest grows, it might not be long before these earrings are commonplace for Apple fans).

To make your own Twisty Earbud Catchers, you’ll need to use a 3D printer. Check out All3DP’s price comparison service if you don’t have access to one of your own.

Although this solution is not the most stylish way to avoid losing your AirPods, 3D printing offers you the chance to personalize your look.

Using your design skills, you can download and personalize M3D’s design. For extra safety, useful modifications could be extra large baskets. Or, to show off your eccentric side, consider 3D printing your baskets in different colors.

But if this really is going to be your chosen method for preserving your AirPods, you’ll have to hope they fall juuuuuust right. The earrings certainly offer an expensive cup-and-ball style game.
