Remember those penholders you made in school from clay? You would take a lump of clay and round it. Then you would stick your finger or a pencil into the clay several times. When it was baked and glazed you had a cute little pencil holder to give as a gift to mom or dad.

Over the years I have stopped using penholders but I regret it because most of the time I can never find my pen when I need it. I was online the other day and just happened to see a cool new 3D printed penholder that caught my eye. It has a simple but intriguing design that made me reconsider the merits of using a pen holder.

The Moonicage Pen Holder is designed by Inter-Culture, a pioneer of additive manufacturing in Japan. The name of the penholder means that it is-a moon with embedded in a cage. It is the cage that gives the penholder its unique look.

The penholder measures 49 x 49 x 50.96mm (1.929 x 1.929 x 2.006in) and comes in natural white polyamide. It costs €25 (excluding VAT.

This is a very functional pen holder perfect for use at home, at the office or to give as a gift.
