At SEMA 2017, Airwolf 3D is unveiling a modified 2016 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat that is upgraded with 3D printed components.

This week in Las Vegas, scores of car enthusiasts and manufacturers will be racing to the 2017 SEMA Show. This event is a premier automotive trade event for specialty car parts. Among the lot will be a special 2016 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, modified and enhanced by 3D printing. This venture, called Project Hellcat, is being undertaken by the 3D printer manufacturer Airwolf 3D.

Using their AXIOM 3D printer line, the California company was able to produce an array of components for the Hellcat. Over the last ten months, Airwolf 3D employees designed and printed various parts for the “World’s Most 3D-Printed Hellcat”.  Now, the American muscle car is loaded with 3D printed upgrades throughout both the interior and exterior.

The AXIOM 3D printer is an high-performance FDM machine that is made for automotive use. And the team behind this printer, who call themselves the “Wolfpack,” are no strangers to tweaking and modifying vehicles. In fact, Airwolf 3D’s Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer Erick Wolf has a collection of project cars for the team to renovate with 3D printed parts.

Project Hellcat: Transforming the Dodge Challenger With 3D Printing

You’ll find numerous 3D printed components inside of the 2016 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. These additively manufactured parts include air intake covers, cooped headlight bezels, speaker covers, cup holders, and coat hooks. However, perhaps the most unique part of the project is the ducktail-style rear spoiler that depicts the Airwolf 3D Logo.

“We’re basically a hot rod shop that builds 3D printers. We customize cars using Airwolf 3D printers because it’s fun and it’s our passion, but it’s also a great way to show off our printers’ capabilities. If a group of amateur car nuts can design and 3D print beautiful parts for the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, what can a true automotive professional achieve when empowered with the same tools?” said Erick Wolf, the Co-Founder and CTO of Airwolf 3D.

The 2017 SEMA Show is taking place at the Westgate Las Vegas Hotel & Casino from October 31 to November 3. So, if you happen to be wandering around Sin City, stop by Booth #15011 to check out the modified 2016 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.
