It's a good bet that any futuristic and stunning-looking new vehicle has 3D printed parts. Renault says metal 3D printing with Scalmalloy, a high-strength aluminum specially designed for 3D printing, was the only way to manufacture the complex, gaming controller-like steering wheel (below) inside the new Filante Record 2025 demonstration EV. The 3D printing process ensured extreme precision while reducing the overall weight of the vehicle to below 1,000 kg and minimizing material waste, the carmaker said.
