Replace & Regrow
by Carolyn Schwaar Jul 18, 2025
Having had this surgery myself, decades ago, I can tell you, this is a big deal.

U.S. medical device startup Nanochon was just approved to start human clinical trials in Canada of its 3D printed implant to repair damaged joint cartilage. The Chondrograft implant replaces a multi-surgery, weeks-long, process that leaves you on crutches for months (not fun!), with a minimally invasive one-step procedure for immediate load-bearing. The company says it's cost-effective, too, and could significantly reduce the number of eventual total joint replacements.
