The global manufacturer is pledging 1% of annual profits to empower makers, and your organization could be next.
XTool, a global manufacturer of desktop laser cutters and fabrication tools, unveiled its 1% Donation Initiative, committing 1% of annual profit to “support local maker communities, youth skill-building programs, Fab Labs, and initiatives that make creation accessible to all.”
“xTool was born from the maker movement, so we give back by dedicating 1% of our profits to creators everywhere,” says xTool. “Even today, far too many students, kids, and underserved communities still don’t have access to maker tools. We’re here to change that. We bring creativity to the places that need it most.”

Since the program’s launch in the Fall, xTool says it has donated about $300K worth of products in 18 countries and regions around the world. Recipients include the Daydream Hack Club in Yaoundé, Cameroon; the Suncoast Science Center in South Gate Ridge, Fla., the Mississippi Aquarium in Gulfport; and the Xerocraft Makerspace in Tucson, Ariz.
Super Fab Lab Kerala in India integrated the xTool F1 Ultra into two practical learning modules: stencil-making for student design projects and laser soldering for fast, clean electronic assembly. “These activities highlight how xTool helps learners bridge the gap between theory and real-world engineering,” xTool says.
Applications to receive xTool product support for your organization are accepted and approved on a rolling basis with no set deadline. Applicants must be accredited community institutions (schools and universities, nonprofits, makerspaces, public libraries, museums, etc.) with a safe, accessible space, a clear need, and a strong plan for meaningful impact with xTool.

Recipients agree to use their xTool to spark creativity, share their progress with xTool, and contribute stories and feedback that inspire others. Donated equipment is tailored to the needs and plans of the recipient organization, but typically consists of one of xTool’s flagship laser cutters or engravers, such as the xTool P2S or S1.
Beyond the hardware, recipients gain access to xTool’s support ecosystem that includes technical support, a library of tutorials and projects, professional development webinars, and an invitation to the company’s educator community to connect with peers.
Pledge 1% is a global philanthropic movement that encourages companies, especially startups and entrepreneurs, to commit 1% of their resources (profit, products, employee time, etc.) to social good.
