Next month, WASP, the Italian 3D printer manufacturer, is presenting its new additive manufacturing system which is capable of 3D printing buildings.
The WASP Crane aka the Infinity 3D printer has been under development for the past two years. It is a collaborative machine which can print using raw materials found on location.
Such a system means there’s no need to transport a large amount of material. The resulting buildings, therefore, cut back on materials and transportation costs and, better yet, impact less on the environment when compared to traditionally made structures.
Maurizio Andreoli from WASP, explains: “Three years ago during the event “The Reality of the Dream, WASP presented the 12-meter BigDelta to the world. After the establishment of the Technology Park Shamballa, WASP printed the first architectural module with the Big Delta. The experience was very important and led our research, to the realization of the actual CRANE WASP, the infinite 3D printer.”
Now, the company is hosting the event, “A call to save the world” next month on October 6th and 7th.
At the event, experts from all over the world will be discussing ” the state of art” and what this collaborative 3D printing system means. As well as this, WASP will present its 2018 case study, GAIA.
GAIA is a living module which was 3D printed next to the company’s headquarters using food waste, soil, and straw. Andreoli explains: “In this case study, the systems of insulation and ventilation have been embedded into the complex articulation of architectural cladding, thanks to the automated control and efficiency of 3D printing technology. For the first days of October the new creation will be completed and ready to be presented to the world.”
After the event’s presentations, visitors can experience WASP’s Technological Park where there will be exhibitions on everything from housing to art to health and food. You can find out more about the event on the company’s website.
