Samsung has introduced its latest line up of productivity-based smartphones. The South Korean company claims the Galaxy Note 10 (but really, Note 10, Note 10+, Note 10 5G, and Note 10+ 5G) was “designed to bring passions to life with next-level power.

These passions could include 3D printing as the Note 10+ variant integrates bleeding-edge AR and 3D scanning capabilities in the form of the 3D Scanner5 app. A separate download, but compatible only with the two Note 10+ phones, the company says it is a “groundbreaking first” for the Note.

It can scan an object then instantly turn it into a movable 3D rendering. It is claimed that you can even export the model to be 3D printed. This will no doubt result in some interesting scans and prints within the maker community.

“From the very beginning, the Galaxy Note has stood for the best-of-the-best technologies and features. The Galaxy Note 10 re-imagines this promise for the modern Note fan who uses their smartphone to take their productivity and creativity to the next level, and who effortlessly flows between ideas and endeavors at a moment’s notice,” said DJ Koh, President, and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics.

3D Scanning, Printing, AR Doodle, and Better Photos

AR Doodle is another exciting feature of the Galaxy Note 10 as users can take the S Pen stylus and personalize photos with drawings, effects, and animations.

Koh continues: “Every element of the Galaxy Note 10 was designed to help users achieve more. Whether they’re finishing a big project for work, capturing and editing a video, or playing their favorite mobile game, the Galaxy Note 10 will help them do it faster and better.”

The Galaxy Note 10 won’t be cheap, and at a starting price of $949 will present a hefty investment when it launches later this month. But with that kind of scanning tech — if it works as demonstrated in the video above — perhaps it’s worth it. What do you think? Will this be the phone to have if 3D scanning and 3D printing is your thing? Drop a comment and let us know.
