Psst, come closer everyone. We’ve got to let you in on a secret. Well, the secret’s out but you don’t know that yet you do, so both shh and psst in that case.

Creality has a new Ender 3 coming. It might not be today, it might not be next week, but there is a new Ender 3 arriving soon and it’s called the Ender 3 S1. On top of that, there are more printers due too, but more on that in a bit. Let’s focus on this Ender 3 S1 first.

Covers were gently lifted rather than whipped off the Ender 3 S1 on Creality’s blog yesterday. The firm is promoting its appearance at Expo 2020 in Dubai, so there was little to no fanfare around the appearance of the new printers, it was a tease at best. The blog post followed Slovenian filament manufacturer AzureFilm releasing a video on the Ender 3 S1 over on the firm’s YouTube channel the day before that demonstrated the Ender 3 S1 as well as providing the world a YouTube unboxing video with a less than average level of cringe.

Over the course of the video, we get a good look at some of the features of the Ender 3 S1 – most notably its direct extruder, which is the headline feature of this machine. There’s also a look at dual Z-axis motors, a flexible, removable magnetic build plate, an impressive hand tattoo, Creality’s “CR-Touch” touch probe for automatic-bed leveling, the UI from the Ender 3 V2, a tool drawer, and a filament sensor. It appears to take normal-sized SD cards too. There are a few nice upgrades on there and we’d assume some parts of the V2 would be carried over, such as the mainboard and power supply. We’d expect a similar build volume too, of course.

AzureFilm will seemingly sell the printer too by the way, but we’d advise against leaning on the company’s thin listing to decipher exactly what specification this printer has. Better to wait for Creality itself to speak up on that, we think. It may be that the Slovenian firm has jumped the gun revealing this machine, given that Creality’s own website is not yet listing the printer – at least fully – at this stage, with the site offering only a semi-hidden, incomplete listing featuring images of a power cable and plug. It does feature a price though, displaying $349 as the sum you’ll need to hand over to get yourself one of these. If true, that’s about $90 more than the Ender 3 V2.

What about the other two machines mentioned then? Well, yes there were two other machines teased in that Creality blog posting – the CR-10 Smart Pro and the Sermoon V1 – but we don’t know anything about them just yet. Nothing has been revealed. We do know about the CR-10 Smart and Sermoon D1 though, so feel free to read up on those and make your own speculation as to what the newly announced models may be packing.
