In a world where custom PC builds have gone mainstream, one creator is adding a 3D printable fresh twist.

The MK01, a fully 3D printable mid-tower PC case from French design company Makeyo Studio, reimagines what desktop enclosures can look and feel like. With its rounded edges, magnetized panels, arcade-style power button, and Lego-like modularity, the MK01 isn’t just a case—it’s a statement you can 3D print.

3D Printing Meets Toy-Inspired Design

Described by its designer as “toyetic”—a term borrowed from the toy industry to describe designs that are both playful and customizable—the MK01 aims to inject fun into an otherwise utilitarian component of the computer. Built with customization in mind, this case allows users to swap colors, redesign panels, and even remix the form factor without starting from scratch.

Thanks to its modular and magnetic design, the outer panels snap on and off effortlessly, enabling quick style swaps or upgrades. Inside, parts fit together like a jigsaw puzzle, secured by screws and magnets. This makes it not only a practical solution for DIY builders, but also a dream for makers and modders who want to experiment.

Designed for Real Hardware, Built for Real Life

The MK01 isn’t just a showpiece. It’s a functional mid-tower case built to house real-world hardware:

  • Supports GPUs up to 33 cm long
  • Holds ATX power supplies and multiple HDDs (2 x 3.5-inch and 1 x 2.5-inch standard, expandable)
  • Cooling options include: 2 x 120 mm fans in the front, an 80 mm fan in the rear, and perforated top and bottom panels for passive airflow

Printer & Material Requirements:

  • Since the case stands 43 cm high, 45 cm long, and 23 cm wide, you’ll need a 3D printer with a build volume of at least 21 x 21 cm (or 25 cm diameter)
  • You’ll need roughly 5 kg of filament to print the full assembly—plus a few hundred magnets, an arcade-style button, and some strong glue
  • The full materials list, alone with some handy Amazon shipping links is here.
  • If you want to take a look at the build instructions before purchasing the files you can access it here.

Why 3D Print a PC Case?

With today’s plug-and-play PC components, building your own desktop is easier and more affordable than ever. But cases, which can cost up to $300, are often a compromise between form, function, and budget. 3D printing your own case like the MK01 not only slashes cost, it also opens the door to complete aesthetic control. Want a bright yellow case with a giant red button and side vents shaped like hexagons? Done. Prefer matte black with sci-fi styling? Just reprint a few parts.

Even better, printing parts yourself means you can tweak the design to match unusual components or create extra airflow in targeted areas. And for those without access to a 3D printer, services like Craftcloud make it easy to have the case delivered to your doorstep.

A Case That Reflects You

The MK01 is more than just a case—it’s an invitation to play, build, and make a PC that reflects who you are. In an industry dominated by sleek aluminum boxes and RGB-soaked gamer towers, the MK01 dares to be different: colorful, customizable, and delightfully hands-on.

Whether you’re a seasoned builder or a first-time maker, the MK01 is proof that 3D printing continues to reshape what’s possible in the world of DIY hardware—one magnetized panel at a time.

Makeyo Studio sells all the files for $20 at Printables and other outlets.
