As Fixturemate moves from the cloud to Stratasys, fixture design becomes faster and more accessible, for GrabCAD Print Pro users.
Fixtures — tools used to hold parts in place while being worked on — are ideal for 3D printing because they’re needed in limited quantities and are highly unique. Designing them, however, is often a hurdle without a designer experienced in computer-aided design software. That’s why software company Trinckle developed Fixturemate in 2024 and launched it as a cloud application. It simplified fixture making for the non-designer by offering easily changeable templates and user-friendly options enabling fixture creations in minutes, or 80% less design time.
Meanwhile, 3D printer maker Stratasys, which has its FDM machines in countless machine shops and factory floors — in part, for the purpose of making fixtures — had been looking for a way to simplify the fixture design process for its customers.
In April 2025, the two companies entered into a strategic partnership where Trinckle’s Fixturemate would be integrated into Stratasys’ GrabCAD Print Pro software, which is the slicing and build-preparation software for Stratasys machines.
Both parties say this collaboration enables non‐CAD users to design custom fixtures quickly and simply, streamlining tooling workflows. For manufacturers, this will “help to reduce reliance on external suppliers, increase control over internal processes, and shorten lead times, so manufacturers can respond more effectively to shifting demand and supply chain pressures,” Trinckle said in a statement.
Although it’s good news for Stratasys users, engineers who had been using Fixturemate in the cloud will no longer have access if their license ran out. Going forward the tool will be exclusive to GrabCAD Print Pro.

You may remember FDM Fixture Generator from Stratasys that launched in 2020 through a partnership with parametric software publisher nTop. This design automation tool also aimed to “unlock scalable 3D printing on your shop floor.” A few features were added to the software over time, including an Assembly Fixture Module and a Masking Fixture Module. It’s unclear if it’s still available at nTops site (and the company did not respond to All3DP about it at the time of this publication), but nTop’s flagship software also includes jig and fixture creation tools.
Over the past five years, fixture generation has become almost standard inside most of the popular computer-aided design tools or as optional add-ons, including Autodesk Fusion, Solidworks, PTC Creo, Siemens NX, and CATIA. Yet, these tools all require CAD skills.
If you’re already using GrabCAD Print Pro, Fixturemate will appear as a feature for no additional cost and is accessible now, according to Stratasys. You can export fixture geometry in STL or 3MF format to print on non-Stratasys machines. Anyone can try GrabCAD Print Pro for free for 30 days.
