CGTrader, a reputable online source for licensable 3D models, has launched a new long phrase search function powered by artificial intelligence to make finding 3D models quicker and easier – including printable designs.

The Lithuania and Orlando, Fla.-based company claims its AI integration will provide a “more focused and precise search,” allowing users to get accurate and relevant search results by describing the look and feel of the model they want to find. It added that the new long phrase search will help save users from manually navigating through pages of results, making the service “even more efficient and seamless.”

Some examples of alternative search terms that CGTrader suggests include “a bouquet of flowers” instead of “flowers”, “tall oak tree with many branches” rather than “tree”, and “retro robot with steampunk elements” over just simply “robot”.

CGTrader currently lists over 1.6 million free and paid 3D models on its website and is the latest maker-adjacent business to add AI to its offering. It joins companies such as Glowforge, which launched its “Magic Canvas” software this past February that uses AI to generate unique images ready to be engraved by one of the company’s “3D laser printers”.

You can try the new AI-powered search function now by visiting CGTrader and typing four or more words into the search bar.
