At FashioNXT Week in Portland this October you’ll be able to buy a sustainable shoe, designed by Seth Aaron and 3D printed by Feetz.

3D printed footwear is becoming more and more popular. From big corporations like Nike and Adidas striving to mass produce them, to individual designers creating one-offs, there’s a lot of activity.

Feetz is a smaller company offering shoes which perfectly fit your feet. The sustainably made shoes are made by the “digital cobbler” through a process of 3D scanning and printing.

Examples of their efforts will be on display at FashioNXT Week in Portland from 11 – 14 October. Feetz will be printing the creations of designer Seth Aaron, the winner of the seventh season of Project Runway.

Aaron is well-known for his eco-friendly fashion, and has put together a special collection of shoe designs for the fashion show. He praises the benefits of 3D printing, saying: “Now I get to take my fascinations with shoes and do it in the most state of the art capability possible.”

We won’t know what the shoe looks like until October as Aaron is keeping his designs top secret. But he has revealed that the shoe will incorporate some form of high heel.

As is the policy of Feetz, and one of the great benefits of 3D printing, the shoes are sustainable. In order to create the designs, Feetz uses recycled and recyclable materials.

Plus, waste of materials is kept to a minimum. Aaron exclaims: “It’s pretty amazing how it works.”

Would you like your own pair of custom made, 3D printed, sustainable and designer shoes? Feetz will be 3D scanning the feet of anyone interested in purchasing the shoes at the show.

After the dust has settled on FashioNXT Week in Portland, the 3D printed shoes should arrive within two weeks. You can then show off your 3D printed Feetz on the streetz.

If you can’t make it to Portland, don’t worry, there are many other high-tech shoe choices regularly popping up. Check out All3DP’s 3D printed shoe overview for inspiration.
