Xbox Series X/S Controller & Console Accessories

The Pick

Upgrading your gaming experience has never been so accessible
Upgrading your gaming experience has never been so accessible (Source: IndustryWeek)

Those of you who were able to get ahold of the Xbox Series X or Series S consoles, we’re very jealous! These were some of the most sought after gifts of the year and are now basically out of stock everywhere. This list of printable accessories is for those lucky few able to get one, or for those hoping to get one soon.

When compiling this selection, we’ve generally prioritized function over aesthetic. We’ve also found some designs that are alternatives to products that are available to purchase, but at a much higher price.

It’s challenging to compile a list of the best accessories, as there are many different types of Xbox gamers with different priorities for their setup. In the end, we think we’ve found a good mix of items for different gamers, whether you’re looking for a full-sized joystick to land a plane or a snack bowl attachment to refuel mid-game.

If something from this list piques your interest but you don’t have a 3D printer (or the time) to make it with, consider Craftcloud by All3DP. With professional partners around the world, you can have your dream upgrades delivered right to your door.

Now, to the list!

Bottom Cover

The Series X is bold in design and as such is meant to be a feature piece in your space. You want it to draw attention and get people to say “wow”!

Frustratingly, part of this design is an eyesore of a round rubber base on one end. Thingiverse user d3rdav3 has taken care of this, designing a cover for the rubber base which fits in with the rest of the console’s aesthetic.

How popular/printable is it? No one has published any Makes, yet, but YouTuber mpoxDE featured a printed model (shown above) and praised it for making the Xbox Series X look as good as the PS5.

Risers

No more scuff marks on your Series X

Keeping your Xbox Series X in pristine condition is important for most, considering the price tag. Unfortunately, if you want to lay it down on its side, there are no rubber feet to protect the console’s surface.

Luckily, Thingiverse user 3Deth has designed a simple set of plastic risers to solve this issue. They rest under the corners of the Xbox Series X and raise it up so that the console is not touching the surface, helping prevent unwanted scuffs and marks on the surface.

For extra security, you may also like to add a layer of foam or something else soft between the riser and the console. Alternatively, there’s also a file to print individual feet.

How popular/printable is it? No Makes have been published yet, but for best results, the creator recommends printing this in TPU so no marks are left on the console.

Base Station with LEDs

Now consoles can have RGB!

We can’t let the PC Master Race community have all the RGB! If you feel like your Series X is lacking in the lighting department, then this base station print has what you’re looking for.

The LEDs are actually an optional extra, as the design is primarily intended to raise and ventilate the console. If you do want to add the lights, you’ll need an LED strip and a power supply, in addition to the printed part.

The Series X does need to be upright to be able to sit in this base, but the impressive effect will clearly be worth rearranging your consoles.

How popular/printable is it? In addition to the designer’s print, there’s one Make and one Remix of this RGB upgrade.

Mini Steering Wheel

For this wheel to work you need a 608 bearing
The only thing you need for this wheel to work is a 608 bearing (Source: UncleJessy via Thingiverse)

When using the bare joystick to drive, do you tend to weave from one extreme to the other, or is that just us?

If you’re not all that keen on (or skilled at) driving with a joystick, this is a must-have upgrade. This small steering wheel clips onto the controller that you can use to actually steer, rather than navigate, with the joystick.

We can hear you asking, what’s the catch? None really, you’ll only need one 608 bearing to use this mod.

HOTAS Joystick

Hands-on throttle and stick (HOTAS) flight control systems make flight simulators very immersive to play. Unfortunately, many of these solutions, especially the decent ones, can be almost the same price or even more expensive than the console itself.

This is where Thingiverse user akaki comes in. They have designed a fully 3D printed HOTAS control system that clips directly onto your Xbox controller. No extra parts required!

FPV Simulator Thumbstick

Great for finite control

If you play any FPV titles, you know that the precision you can get with a joystick is often less than ideal. Luckily, benxfactor from PrusaPrinters has designed control sticks that clip straight onto a controller’s joysticks, providing more familiar controls for the FPV community.

An additional benefit of this model is for those with limited control or dexterity in their hands. This add-on is easier to grasp and control than a traditional joystick, potentially offering a better gaming experience.

How popular/printable is it? There has been at least one print of the item, as indicated in the comments. Depending on which controller you have, you may need to scale this slightly to fit.

Gyro Bowl Holder

Eat while gaming without spilling your snacks everywhere
Eat while gaming without spilling your snacks everywhere (Source: noycebru via Cults)

One of the downsides to gaming is that you often need to get up to get snacks, or worse, in an intense moment of battle, you knock the snacks all over the floor. Not fun!

One ingenious maker has designed a controller attachment to hold a gyro bowl that will resist spilling when jostled, which we all know can frequently happen when gaming. This accessory also has the added benefit of your snacks being right in front of you, and the considerate inclusion of a wet wipe holder (to keep your greasy fingers away from your lovely new controller).

The attachment is designed to fit this gyro bowl. If you’re considering printing your own bowl, make sure to think about food-safe filament options first.

How popular/printable is it? There have been no official prints for this item, but it has gotten a lot of attention across social media, such as on Reddit. Unfortunately, the bowl attachment is not quite clever enough to stop you from getting covered in Cheeto dust.

This wall mount allows you to both store your controllers in an easy-to-reach place and show them off. This is especially great if you have some special ones!

Thoughtfully, the model has mounts for adhesive strips or screws, depending on your preference and the surface you want to attach it to.

Tripod Mount

Stretch your legs while gaming
Stretch your legs while gaming (Source: noycebru via Cults)

You can use stand-up desks to work at a computer, so why not apply the same principle to gaming?

Cults user noycebru saw this potential and designed a mount that allows you to attach your Xbox controller to a tripod. This not only means that you can stand while gaming, but also that if you let go, it will stay in place. You’ll no longer need to try to hold on when wanting your hands for snacking or texting!

This stand is designed for Xbox One controllers, but the profiles are very similar so it should work for the newer models. (All the Xbox One controllers will still work with the Series X/S consoles, anyway.)

How popular/printable is it? This design has been viewed over 1,100 times, though no prints have been shared apart from the creator’s.

If you have more than two Xbox controllers, storing them can be a bit of a headache since most of the stands you can buy only fit two controllers.

This stand holds four controllers in a compact space with no additional hardware apart from a couple of small (Red-Bull-sized) energy drink cans. With this model, you’ll get the good feeling of upcycling as well as a functional controller stand!

Stand with Logo

Print the logo pieces in a contrasting filament, or even glow in the dark! (Source: 3dprintednickname via Thingiverse)

Want a bit more character to a controller stand? This model integrates the Xbox logo like a plaque to give it extra style.

It does only support one controller, but it’s quick and easy to print so you can display all of your controllers in no time. You can also mix and match colors, with separate files to print the stand and logo. Color coordinating or using glow-in-the-dark filament can make this design really pop!

This is another design intended for Xbox One controllers, but it should hold your Series X/S controllers just as securely and with just as much style.

Even though this is not a design for the Series X/S or controller, we thought it would be a nice inclusion for those who do have one, to show off that you’re one of the lucky few. Though for most of us, this might be the closest we will get to having a next-gen Xbox for quite a while!
