Wiffle Balls

Batter Up!
Batter Up! (Source: toolmoon via Thingiverse)

A properly-functioning baseball might be tough to print, but wiffle balls are a different story. Here’s a collection of three variations, offering different hole sizes and patterns.

Experiment with the different balls for different aerodynamics and feel. The prints are a little tricky, but don’t require supports as long as the layer height is low enough for adequate bridging.

What better way to show your love for your favorite ice hockey team than to print a puck with their logo? What’s really cool about this offering is that you don’t have to do any modeling to add your team: The Thingiverse page includes files for 28 different NHL teams!

These pucks can be printed in a solid color, with dual extrusion, with filament swaps at specific layers, or just relief-painted afterwards.

Cubicle Hoop

A workout at work!
A workout at work! (Source: tsmiller via Thingiverse)

Even if you’re not into basketball, this is a good way to take the edge off of especially boring workdays. The hoop is designed to mount over the side of an office cubicle, but it could also be hung from other ledges, like a door!

The print is relatively simple, but constructing the net requires a little bit of office resourcefulness. Try using paper clips, string, elastics, or anything else you have available.

Gatorade Bottle Charm

Know which bottle is yours

The iconic green and orange Gatorade bottles are a popular choice among athletes in many sports. There’s only one problem with everyone having identical bottles, though, and that’s telling them apart.

This unique design is a simple ring that threads down the neck of the standard 32-ounce bottle. It can be used plain or be customized with a name or jersey number so that you can tell your bottle apart from others at a glance.

The print is a simple, single piece, and should be printed in a bright, contrasting color for easy identification.

Bicycle Phone Mount

Don't text and bike!
Don't text and bike! (Source: juhyukhong via Thingiverse)

Biking from one place to another in a big city, it’s easy to get lost. This model securely holds your phone on the handlebars of your bike, so it can be used not only as a GPS or map but also as a speedometer and odometer for exercise tracking. It also makes it easy to control any music you may be listening to!

The print is done in six pieces, some of which are pretty complex. When it’s done, it can hold almost any phone by clamping down on the sides when you turn a knob. The phone is also supported on the bottom, and the position of the whole mount is adjustable on the handlebars of your bike.

Lacrosse Head

This is the ultimate model for lacrosse players: a stick head that’s been approved for legal use in NCAA high school divisions. Now you can replace your broken head and add some individuality to your stick!

This print should be done in a durable material such as TPU, TPE, or nylon, with generous infill for strength. The material and infill density can be varied so that your stick has optimal weight as well.

Water Bottle Bike Cage

Hydration while on the road!
Hydration while on the road! (Source: Angel3D via Thingiverse)

Many bike manufacturers produce their own versions of water bottle holders, but what’s the point of paying 15 bucks when you can print one yourself? Hit the trails – or street – with this easy-to-print, easy-to-mount cage.

The print is done in three pieces and is quick to make. It doesn’t require supports and has flat surfaces that’ll adhere to the build plate. It’s meant to be screwed into the frame with the pre-existing universal holes meant for a water bottle cage, but could also be held on with zip ties.

Wall Mount for Balls

Here’s a simple print that’ll make a big difference in your garage or shed. This bracket will screw into any wall and can hold soccer balls, basketballs, volleyballs, playground balls, and any other ball within that size range. Print as many as you like to store all of your balls, which are notoriously annoying to store otherwise.

The design is printed in two parts, both of which have plenty of surface area for the build plate, and neither of which require supports. Finally, the two parts need to be glued together after printing.

Spare Golf Ball Clip

Experienced golfers will know that it isn’t easy to chip a ball while holding your spares at the same time. Fishing around in your bag for loose balls is likewise an unenjoyable experience, alongside setting them down on the green, where they’re easily lost.

The reason this model is so popular is that you can hold two golf balls clipped to your belt or bag, where you can reach them before your fellow golfers even realize that the last one went straight into the woods.

The print is quick, easy, and simple. Print a few to make things even easier out on the course.

If you’re a dedicated swimmer, goggles are a must. Naturally, they should be kept safe and clean, and this model does just that. Essentially, it’s a case that securely holds a pair of swim goggles, where they’ll be safe and ready for their next use.

The hinges on the lid are made out of short lengths of filament, eliminating the need for metal hardware that can rust, and the decorative designs on the lid act as vents to let the goggles dry out properly.

Tennis Ball Retriever

This model can be a life saver for frequent tennis players. Or at least a back saver. Glue it onto the end of a cardboard poster tube and use it to pick up tennis balls without bending over.

Pressing down on a ball will cause it to pop into the tube. In this way, you can collect a number of balls before emptying them out the back. The capacity depends on the length of the tube.

The printed part itself is ridiculously simple and quick to make, making this model well worth your time if you play a lot of tennis.

Miscellaneous

Originally, we were going to call this section “Convenience, Showcasing, & Holders”, but a three-part title for four things seems rather silly. These designs, on the other hand, are anything but silly, so enjoy!

Table Tennis Ball Dispenser

Tired of having to fish around for loose ping pong balls every time it’s your turn to serve? If so, this model is for you. Despite being a simple single piece, it still offers easy access to table tennis balls without you having to worry about them rolling off the table and bouncing under some piece of furniture, never to be seen again.

The dispenser holds six balls, but an extension could be designed to increase the capacity if you tend to go through balls quickly. The print doesn’t require supports and easily mounts to a wall. It could also be mounted to the leg of your table for maximum convenience.

Signed or special edition baseballs are often treasured among fans, and some can hold sentimental value, as well. Here’s a cool stand that’s used to hold that prized ball on display.

Royal-Tee

A golf tee to envy

This model is for the golf fanatic: a golf tee that’s printed in three different pieces of contrasting colors and whose top resembles a crown. These tees might be more for show than for heavy use, but the complex design will make you look a bit fancier even while you send ball after ball into the sand trap.

Provided on Thingiverse are files for single- and multiple-color use. Just be aware that the latter, while cooler, may require some gluing.
