Model Humans

When you’re working on modeling and animating human characters in Blender, you don’t always have the time necessary to create a model from scratch. Alternatively, you might be looking for something specific to inspire you, like a superhero in flying motion or an individual body part. The point is sometimes you just need to use a pre-made model for your work!

Fortunately, there are quite a few sites where you can find great human 3D models for Blender in a variety of file formats. The most optimal format is its native file format BLEND, which saves everything all together, from meshes to effects to sounds. Other formats, however, are still compatible with Blender. STL and OBJ are well suited for modeling, while FBX and Collada (DAE) files are great for animation and visual effects.

In this article, we’ve narrowed down the vast amount of sites out there to a list of the eight best for human 3D models. We’ve also made sure that all sites offer models in file formats that are compatible with Blender.

A quick word of potential caution to parents, however. Some of the human body models that can come up in modeling searches might not be appropriate for children or teenagers. So keep that in mind if your child is the one who will be utilizing these sites.

We’ve identified the best based on the following considerations:

  • Large variety of images: With the sites listed here, you won’t get stuck with pages and pages of only Lord of the Rings characters or models of just human hands and feet. All of these sites contain a large swathe of inspiration for you to select from.
  • Reasonable price range: Many of the models featured on the sites are free of charge, but you’ll also see models for sale. Although a few sites feature more expensive models, there’s something for every budget here.
  • High-quality models: You’ll be able to find a lot of high-quality models on all of these sites. One quality factor that has been taken into account is the number of high-poly models available, which are optimal for photorealism and details. Regardless of the style (realistic or cartoon), we’ve kept an eye out for well-executed models.
  • Blender-friendly: As mentioned above, these sites feature a large number of files that are compatible with Blender.
