Every day, the low-cost 3D printer market is getting more interesting. The Anet A8, Monoprice Select Mini, and Creality CR-10 already offer great value for money under $500. Now the Anycubic i3 Mega enters the ring. Review its facts here.
Be it the Anet A8, the Monoprice Select Mini, Tevo Tarantula or the Creality CR-10s, affordable 3D printers seem to have hit a sweet spot for consumers worldwide. And with Anycubics i3 Mega, the segment of kit 3D printers becomes even more interesting.
Please note that this is not a proper Anycubic i3 Mega review, as All3DP’s editorial team hasn’t taken an in-depth look at the printer. But can provide you with insights on what the Anycubic i3 Mega specifications.
The specifications of the Anycubic i3 Mega read very similarly to most low-cost 3D printers.
So what makes this printer stand out? As said, this is not a proper Anycubic i3 Mega review, but we can give you some indicators what makes it special:
If you choose to buy a 3D printer kit, you usually spend 8 to 10 hours assembling and calibrating it.
The Anycubic i3 Mega, on the other hand, shortens that building process significantly. It comes in just two parts – a socket containing the 3D printer’s power supply and printer bed; plus the vertical parts that hold the print head and two rods of the Y-axis.
All you have to do is to slide the two parts together and tighten 8 screws with the provided tools.
Also, the company includes tweezers for removing filament from the nozzle, scrappers (good for removing printed objects from the print bed) and even gloves (for avoiding contact with the greased axes while building the printer).
After you finished building the printer, you can start to calibrate. In order to get you started, Anycubic provides an 8-GB-SD card that contains some sample prints (i.e. a Benchy and a test cube), that are already pre-sliced, so you don‘t have to fire up your computer.
To slice models, you have to resort to the popular 3D slicer Cura (more information here).
Anycubic also throws in a 1-kg-spool of filament, a pack of tools, an SD card reader and a spool holder.
You can order the Anycubic i3 Mega from the popular online stores like Amazon or Gearbest.
