Looking for a free version of Autodesk Inventor? Here are the best answers on how to get Autodesk Inventor for free, along with some of the best software alternatives.
Autodesk Inventor is a popular Windows-only 3D CAD software tool that offers professional-grade 3D mechanical design and simulation tools. Some of Inventor’s key features include parametric and free-form modelling, automated part design, and dynamic simulation and stress analysis.
However, all of those features cost a hefty $240 per month or more, depending on the subscription model you choose. Luckily, there are few ways to use the software for free (for up to 3 years).
Autodesk allows you to download a 30-day free trial of Inventor. All you need to do to get started is make an Autodesk account. Then, by clicking on the “download free trial” link and selecting the “business user” option, you may download a free copy of Inventor with a 30-day licence. The trial version is no different than the full version of Inventor, except that after 30 days the licence will expire and you won’t have access to the software anymore.
Fortunately, if you’re a student or an educator and would like to use Inventor for educational purposes, in accordance with Autodesk’s terms of service, you may download and install a free copy of Inventor on up to two devices. The educational license, thanks to Autodesk’s Education Community, gives you free access to the all of the software’s features for 3 years.
Like Inventor, Fusion 360 is another product in the Autodesk portfolio that is capable of 3D CAD, CAM, and CAE in a cloud-based platform that works on both Mac and PC. Similar to Inventor, Fusion 360 is also free with a 30-day trial, or for 3 years if you’re a student or educator.
FreeCAD, an open-source development, is a parametric 3D CAD modeller. It’s also available for Windows, Mac, and Linux machines. As the name implies, its completely free to download, and its key features include parametric modelling, modular architecture, 2D drawing, and robot simulation.
